- TECH SPECS / GUIDELINES
Technical specification and compatibility
We are currently in a Beta release which means you may find bugs or errors - please use our feedback form to report anything you may find - thank you.
What browser and operating systems can I use?
Operating system: The operating system is basically irrelevant (you can use Windows, Mac or Unix - although Unix is not fully tested), the key component is the browser you use.
Browser: Buildor/Lite is designed to operate in FireFox and Internet Explorer
We currently support FireFox 2 and 3 (Mac and PC). FireFox 3.5 should be fine but it is not currently fully supported - please use our feedback form to report issues - thank you.
We currently support Internet Explorer 7. Version 6 is not supported and 8 is not fully supported but should be fine. Again, please use our feedback form to report issues - thank you.
What websites are compatible with Buildor/Lite?
The application is designed for use with sites that:
1) Do not currently have an integrated Content Management System (CMS)
2) Use HTML/CSS for the majority of the layout - in other words they are not heavily reliant on Adobe Flash etc.
If you do have an integrated CMS you will probably be able to load the page and make edits but any new pages you create (by using the Save to desktop function) will no doubt have to live outside the structure your CMS.
If all that sounds too technical we would recommend speaking to your developer/designer for advice.
Buildor/Lite is not designed for use with:
1) Blogs
2) Sites that use complex server side code/databases to build elements of your pages.
You will no doubt be able to edit sites like this but clearly there is no way to integrate your changes back into the platform you are using.
If you think your site fits these compatibility guidelines and you are having problems editing text or images please read the following notes:
