- UPLOADING NEW IMAGES
Uploading new Images
If the image you want to add to a page currently lives on
your computer you need to upload it, either to your web server or to an image hosting
site.
Uploading to your web server
This is the recommended approach to take as it means you always know where your images are and they won't suddenly disappear if the image host site goes down for "maintenance".
You can either use an FTP client to move images from your desktop to your server, or you can use our integrated Image Upload Tool.
To use the Image Upload Tool you will need to know your FTP details. These will have either been supplied by your web host, the designer/developer who initially built your site or will have been chosen by you if you had the option to set up the site yourself.
If you do not know your FTP details we recommend you contact either your web host or the designer/developer who initially built your site.
You will need the following:
FTP address, sometimes known as Account Name
FTP Username and FTP Password and Directory
To work out which Directory you need to save your images you should take a look at which directory your images currently live in. Many sites will have more than one directory for images and your new image can live in any of them but often they are organized so that different sections of the site have images in different directories.
If we take this page as an example:
http://buildorlite.com/examples/images.html
You can see by following the Right-Click / CTRL-Click method that the images on this page live in a directory called help_imgs which has the path:
http://buildorlite.com/help_img/
So you simply enter
